Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to understand the architectural characteristics of recent elderly housing in Japan, in order to refer them in establishing the planning direction in Korea. Outline of elderly housing in Japan was reviewed. Site-visits by facility types were executed, and related informations(brochure, articles & drawing) were analyzed. Conclusions can be summarized as follows; design for the minimization of transfer shock from home to facility, designing all the residents' rooms as single for privacy and setting the spatial hierarchy for residents' mental stabilization, design for maintaining potential function by participation in everyday living, attempts of new types such as apartment using care service/complex facility for elderly & community/day care center for children and elderly, and introduction of new concept ward planning(unit care) in elderly hospital influenced by nursing home design. |
