Abstract |
The paper presents the results of analytical study on the stability of low-rise steel unbraced frames. The method of analysis was based on the refined plastic hinge method and the arc length method. The main analytical parameters were axial load ratio, column stiffness, stiffness ratio of column to beam, and column length of first floor. The variations of maximum lateral load, lateral displacement, initial story stiffness, lateral load reductive ratio, and inelastic index were investigated to evaluate the stability of low-rise steel unbraced frames in this study. It is shown that the stability of low-rise steel unbraced frames is mainly subjected to the column stiffness of first floor and axial load ratio of column. |
