Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to evaluate structural service application of the lightweight concrete contained expandable polystyrene beads and so that we investigate physical, mechanical and variational properties tested slump, air content, unit weight, compressive, tension and flexural strength, length change, freeze-thaw resistance. Mix rate of this study is 20, 30, 40% for EPS substitution and 1:2(cement : sand) for W/C 40, 45%, and 1:0, 1:0.5, 1:1, 1:2 for W/C 50%. The result of study as follows. The slump was over 15±2.5cm in the W/C 50% batches but added 0.2~0.9% of superplasticizer in the W/C 40, 45% batches. Air content was 2.2~10%, unit weight 1.13~1.75t/m3, compressive strength 6.7~20.5MPa, tension strength 0.7~2.2MPa, flexural strength 1.43~4.77MPa. length change and freeze thaw resistance tested with W/C 40, 45% batches, result was 6.12~8.54×10-4 of dry shrinkage and good freeze thaw resistance except W/C 40%, EPS substitution rate 20% batch. So Light weight concrete contained EPS can use for structural service application and suitable mix rate is W/C 45%, EPS substitution rate 20%, 1:2 as cement : sand volume rate of cement matrix. |
