Abstract |
Common delay analysis methods are performed by contrasting the as-planned schedules and the as-built schedules. By investigating the delay analysis methods generally accepted and used, this study could detect some problems that appear in analysis of actual schedule delay. The most important problem in delay analysis methods is the ambiguity of the concurrent delay analysis. Therefore, the objective of this study is to propose an effective and reasonable method to evaluate the concurrent delay. To achieve these objectives, a delay analysis method using Delay Section (DS) concept is proposed. It adopts the procedure of Contemporaneous Period Analysis (CPA), and contains a new concept. By using the DS concept, a delay analyst can divide concurrent delay into one delay-occurred section and two or more delays-occurred sections, so that the ambiguity of the analysis time unit in performing delays analysis can be resolved. In addition, it performs an important role in analyzing and apportioning concurrent delays because the duration of all delays-occurred periods can be clearly defined. |
