Abstract |
This research tries to study the aesthetic value of architecture as a part of the design methods; this takes places from the viewpoint of "Unification through Similarity" and "Unification in Complexity" under the frame of the Gestalt Psychology. Unification can be achieved in a design by the combination of the four components, such as form, scale, texture and color, through the similarity of one or more of these components. There are three ways in which "Unification in Complexity" relates to architecture: through deviation from axis and symmetry, and from rhythm, and through multi-interpretation. As we see from this research, it is recommended that both principles "Unification through Similarity" and "Unification in Complexity" are used together in a design to create a simultaneously ordered- and tensioned-architectural effect, complementing each others elements. Finally, the effective use of these principles results in an aesthetically pleasing design, linking the separate elements into a cohesive whole. |
