Abstract |
The objective of this study is to propose the reliability analysis which can be evaluated probability of failure and reliability index of steel frames with semi-rigid connections. In this study, the moment- rotation relationship of semi-rigid connections are assumed by the power model that has three parameters such as initial stiffness, ultimate moment capacity, and shape coefficient of the connection. In order to calculate the probability of failure and reliability index of semi-rigid steel connections, advanced first order second moment method and Monte-carlo method using inverse transformation method are adopted. For unbraced nonlinear steel frame with partially restrained joints, reliability analysis considered serviceability limit state has been executed. The results by the proposed algorithm are compared with those by analytical method. Through the analysis, it shows that rotational stiffness of the connections and coefficient of variance of random variables are the main parameters on the reliability of steel frames with semi-rigid connections. |
