Abstract This study is the architectural characteristics of main Buddhist sanctum in Koryeo period. The study regarding to the Temples built in the age of Koryeo Dynasty of which most part in the research for Buddhist architectural history is yet remained left behind as a vacant period due to limitation of the relevant materials thereof. Recently, as being carried out the excavation on those relics of Koryeo temples, the architectural features for Koryeo temples are also being clarified. ??The plan style of main Buddhist sanctum founded in the Koryeo Period and the composition of the Buddhist sanctum are relatively various. The plane style was examined in regard to the religious contents and Buddhist consciousness at that time. Also, based on the plane structure, it was estimated whether they were single-storied or multiple-storied. For this, they were analyzed by comparing with the existing buildings of the Choseon Period.
