Abstract A raised block for blind and visually impaired person is a very useful facility for a orientation. For this reason, the raised block has been installed obligatorily in the building and on the sidewalk. In recent years the installation has been increasing at a rapid rate in the whole country. But it is required to improve upon the method of installation. This study tries to provide useful and alternative models of the raised block. To accomplish this purpose, the existing models in Korea (Japan), Germany and Austria have been analyzed and tested by the 110 visually impaired persons. As the result, this study shows how the models of raised block can apply practically to different conditions and environments.
