Abstract The aim of this study is to suggest the dynamic stiffness and the loss factor of materials used under floating floors in dwellings by Korea standard (KS F 2868). We measured and compared those of 18 resilient materials about several conditions such as the??test specimens, the type of excitation methods, the size of load plate and so on. The results show that the dynamic stiffness by using sinusoidal signal of exciter is higher than that by using impulse signal of impact hammer. And it is desired that the number of set up position of vibration pick-up is more than 3 to minimize the measuring error. Especially, in case of measuring the polystyrene material which has higher stiffness and the real building which has not smoothness of floor, it should be measured with great care.
