| Abstract |
Generally, we recognize urban environment as the structure of cognitive settings in townscape. The purpose of this study is to examine the special characteristics and the structure of the integrated setting recognized in townscape of the central district in Sheffield's old town. As a result, based on the spatial hierarchy about grouping of houses and separation of blocks, the identified spatial characteristics could be extracted between the urban space, which is composed of historic buildings, streets, squares and landscapes, and the factors generating the sense of integration. |
