Abstract |
The force balance test is generally used as a method to evaluate dynamic responses??and static design wind loads for tall buildings. Nevertheless, exact wind profiles can't be assessed with the force balance test. Also, the force balance test should be performed on the assumption that the 1st dynamic mode governs the total dynamic behaviors. However, the higher modes should be considered and??the wind profile should be measured in tests for the exact evaluation of responses and wind loads of slender structues In this study, the MCS(Modified Conditional Sampling) method is suggested for the evaluation of equivalent static wind loads. The MCS is a method to derive effective static wind loads by combining wind pressures and inertia forces of a structure chosen at the maximum load effect. The maximum load effect is assessed with the dynamic transient analysis using pressure data acquired in wind tunnel tests. Firstly, the problems of the GF, the LRC, and the CS mehtod are described and then the concept and the procedure of MCS method is explained. After that, equivalent static wind loads are assessed for an example of a slender structure with those methods and the results are com |
