Abstract Higher education revolution??has been discussed for national competency in developed countries. This study is to investigate the design education in making an architect and seek the characteristics of design teaching method at competitive universities, such as Bath, Cardiff, Nottingham and Sheffield University in UK. It is resulted in as followings: Bath and Cardiff University changed from 3year to 4 and 5 school year for opening and international exchange. Program of Nottingham is specialized in technology and environment. Teaching methods in studio of four universities look like traditional studio-based teaching. But in detail these are changed for excellence in credit module reception for exchange, 4 or 5 school year for globalization, Diploma linking to Master course for excellence, a holistic design course structure assessed with application of technology and environment, cultural context, communication, management, practice and law, a repertory development for design projects, a modular package teaching and learning methods for knowledge-based society and future. And programs for national competitiveness have being supported by government and associations.
