Abstract |
The housing performance indicator system (HPIS), whereby manufacturers can label the performance (e.g. energy efficiency, fire-resistance, structural stability) of their product or system based upon testing by the evaluation bodies, will be reportedly introduced into Korea on the latter part of 2005. However efforts are not sufficiently provided to the studies or discussions related to the HPIS despite of its urgency. In this background, this paper provides basic information on public acknowledgement and evaluation about this HPIS related topics by 218 randomized condominium dwellers in Seoul metropolitan area. The result reveals that the necessity for introduction of the system is well recognized by the consumers whereas, public information is quite necessary showing over 90 percentage of the responders indicates the shortage of press release about the HPIS. |
