Abstract Rotational stiffness of a double angle connection plays an important role on the study of connection behavior. Its connection rigidity is mainly dependent on several parameters such as angle thickness, angle length, number of bolt, bolt diameter, and bolt gage distance. In this research, a finite element method is utilized to model a double angle connection to establish the effects of angle thickness and bolt gage distance. The double angle connection is modeled by a commercial software package based on the same geometrical and loading conditions as those of previous experimental tests. The flexural rigidities of double angle connections with various angle thickness and bolt gage distances have been examined by using regression techniques regarding the moment-rotation curves obtained from the finite element analysis.
