Abstract |
This study deals with the properties of PMMA mortars using expanded polystyrene as a multi-functional agent such as thickener, shrinkage reducing agent and resin extender. PMMA mortars are prepared with various EPS contents of binder and tested for working life, exotherm temperature and length change. The mortars subjected to a dry and a dry/heat combined curing are tested for flexural and compressive strengths. From the test results, the working life is shortened with increasing EPS content of binder and the maximum peak exothorm temperature is shown at a EPS content of 30%. The EPS content of binder covering the non-shrinkage of the PMMA mortar with EPS is predicted to a 26%. The flexural and compressive strengths of the PMMA mortars tend to decrease with an increase in the EPS content, however, the decrease degree is not marked. |
