Abstract |
A gender is the first order for understanding the social reality. Classifying popular magazine is a valuable instrument for perceiving gender realities in society that dominates our thoughts and behaviors. This study intends to understand how Contemporary Korean Houses have been changed and regulated since 1980's, through the specific Causality of Gender and Magazine. Contemporary Korean Houses appear to be conceived as systematic, rational and contemporary space, reflecting closely to the changes of gender issues. However, Korean Houses signify socio-spatial power by gender. Therefore, the purpose is to, First, 1) analyze the features of Korean Houses through social changes of gender in relation to social status of woman and value of family and gender classification of role regulation. Second, 2) find out gender issues, which being implied in the space of Contemporary Korean Houses in popular magazine. : it includes the feminism, class, user, consume and ostentation of residential space. Finally, 3) establish the specific Causality and effects of Gender. The conclusions are as follows. First, Korean Houses, illustrated in popular magazine, has developed through changes of the interaction and causality of gender. Second, despite of magazine's successful influence on Contemporary Korean Houses, the magazine has produced discriminate effects such as, the distortional feminism, user and class definition and consume and ostentation of residential space. Therefore, Magazine, as leading mass media depicting social and gender space, needs to consider a new role behind these changes and disparities of region, class and gender. |
