Abstract Daylight responsive dimming systems are used both to increase working efficiency and to save energy by detecting the quantity of available daylight. Considering for using such systems, the influx of daylight is influenced by partitions, reflectance, and arrangement of desks in the office, and artificial illumination which is used architectural factors such as orientations of buildings and size of windows. Therefore, this study offers the guidelines of how to determine the dimming zones by analyzing available daylight which is obtained by various variables. As a result of determining dimming zones, we can increase not only efficiency of system but also energy saving potentials.
