Abstract |
Construction estimators consider that their knowledge is prior to estimation techniques. Therefore, this study proposes a construction cost predicting model that utilizes the knowledge gained from experts' experiences to predict the cost of new construction projects at the early stages. In this study, case-based reasoning was used to structure the model, and analytical hierarchy process was used to elicit the knowledge from the experts. The results showed that a gap of accuracy between the model that uses experts' knowledge and the model that uses a regression analysis was inconsiderable. However, the model that uses experts' knowledge has an advantage that estimators can understand the processes of the cost predicting, so that the users include their knowledge additionally. In addition, experts' knowledge of features' weights, which influence the construction cost, give an opportunity to use in feasibility study and concept design. |
