| Abstract |
Injury Ratio Assessment Regulation(IRA) was introduced since 1992 and brought huge positive effect on the occupational accident prevention in Republic of Korea. There were tremendous decrease of injury ratios and enforcement of contractors' safety organizations in the construction industry from the launching of IRA. In spite of these positive results, there were some negative effects such as contractors' shrinking injury reports to keep good injury ratios since these figures had a great impact on the pre-qualification stage of bidding when general contractors were competing for new construction projects. Thus, this study suggested ways of improvement of IRA mainly through questionnaire survey on the managers of general contractors to promote in lessening construction injuries and eliminating negative responses from the construction industry as well. |
