Abstract |
This study is aimed to clarify the physical characteristics, especially the site and building layout characteristics of Multi-Family Housing of Gangnam-Gu, Seoul, and to provide basic data in architectural field for government to establish proper housing policies for desirable urban residential environment of Korea. Since new building regulations of Korea at 1984 provided the basic conditions for the official introduction of urban multi-family housing, the prosperity of these housing type was started at 1990 in Gangnam-Gu, Seoul. After 1990, the physical characteristics of site and building layout derived from field survey and from the preceding researches can be outlined as follows ; ① the disappearance of inner open space and surrounding fences caused by the intensification of parking requirements. ② the introduction of common use staircase and parking piloti space facing the street. ③ the increasement of floor numbers. ④ the maximum segregation of building from the north site boundary. |
