Abstract |
Although researchers have developed analytical models to effectively solve many problems regarding resource leveling and allocation on construction projects, practitioners have difficulty in appling these models in order to practically determine the start timing of inputting a particular resource item because they should consider a variety of resource items including personnel, material, and cost. This paper provides a methodology in determining the start timing of resource input in consideration of the project cost. The method provided in this paper was developed a on mathematical basis. The mathematical model devide the whole project into manageable activity- level elements by assuming the timing of resource input is the same as the timing when project cost occurs. In addition, the model levels the accumulated cost of each sub-activities. This study provides a comprehensive resource-leveling methodology, which considers various factors including personnel, cost, timing of resource input. In comparison with other previous researches, the study provides a more realistic model by enhancing the efficiency of the solution in the resource leveling issues in the field of construction project scheduling. |
