Abstract This study investigates spatial elements of temple's approach lane, arrangement type of stores, parking lot, and design components of external appearance of buildings, signboards. Results of this investigation are summarized as followings ; (1) There are??5types of store??district sorted??by approach lane pattern : two-way style, one-way style, parallel style, courtyard style, island style. As each type effects business performance, these types are linked directly with desirable development of the approach part of temple.??(2) The exterior of store in temple's approach shows that the later the store has been developed, the more modern design was used.??It is judged??that this is caused??by insufficient??comprehension??about??peculiarity of the area located??in temple's??entrance. (3) Specially, in the case of signboard, pana-flex??and??neon are used largely but??unsuitably at stores in temple's approach area.??It is strongly demanded the development of creative signboard considered special quality of shop. (4) We need continuous effort of local government and merchants to diversify and specify goods for corresponding to spectator's various??request who visit?? Buddhist temple, as well as to develop the business part through design development.
