Abstract |
The vibration response formulas for calculation of man induced floor vibration were suggested in the several structural codes or design guides, and have been frequently used in practical engineering field for their convenience. In most cases, however, the vibration response calculated with these formulas is severely deviated from real value when it is compared with experimental exact value. In this study, 4 types of the formulas, those in AISC design guide, LRFD, CSA and Japan steel code, were examined to evaluate the accuracy and validity of them. To do this, the real vibration responses for 25 existing floor systems were acquired by experimental method. In addition, dynamic analysis was performed to get a computational vibration response for the floors using a computer program. Through the analysis and comparison, this paper clarified the characteristic of each formula and suggested several useful guides for using them. |
