Abstract The object of this paper is to investigate experimentally the ultimate strength and to evaluate the effect of joint eccentricity, brace angle and rotation of a gap K-joints in cold-formed square hollow sections (SHS) with tension branch plate. The principal parameters for testing included the raio of joint eccentricity, brace angle, brace rotation. The test results of 12 specimens indicated that the capacity of gap K-joints is determined the capacity of tension brace. The failure of joint is occurred punching shear failur of the chord subsequently plastic of chord face. The variation of the capacity according to joint eccentricity is not affected on (+) eccentricity and increased joint capacity and initial stiffness as increasing (-) eccentricity. For the variation of brace angle, the capacity is increased the 60°specimen with small gap. And the effect of brace rotation is not founded.
