Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to analyze buckling capacity for columns with torsional bracing by finite element method, because many columns bracing details employed in steel construction restrain twisting as well as lateral motion and the location of the lateral bracing on the section has a significant effect on torsional buckling. In this research, it is presented with classical theory and developed stability finite element analysis of thin-walled structures. The linear and geometric stiffness matrix for an element of a general asymmetric thin-walled open-section is formulated. it is assembled bracing stiffness for an element in addition to linear stiffness into global stiffness matrix. The results of example are in reasonable agreements with previous theory expression suggested by Timoshenko and Gere. |
