Abstract |
In this study, the main variables that affect discomfort glare on windows are determined through analysis of the results of two evaluation tests. This study also supplements the problems with DGI and PGSV and the limitations of the evaluation that are suggested by previous studies. The purpose of this study is to develop the Nomo-Graph as a new evaluation and prediction index, which can evaluate discomfort glare on windows and consider the visual characteristics of Koreans. In this study, Nomo- Graph has been developed as an evaluation index for the window GSV, and the experimental procedures are as follows: 1) Based on the results that are analyzed through the first and second evaluation experiments, the variables which have an influence on discomfort glare are selected. 2) The solid angle is calculated using the window size and the distance from the subjects. 3) The position index which shows the position of subjects and windows is converted to a graph, using the table which is indicated in the CIE Technical Report. 4) The modified solid angle is calculated, considering the position of windows and subjects, that is, the distance between the window and the subjects, horizontal distance, vertical distance, and the direction from the viewpoint. 5) The DGI is selected according to window luminance and modified solid angle. 6) By using the table which shows the relation between the selected DGI and discomfort glare, the discomfort glare is evaluated.
