Abstract |
The objective of this study is to estimate environmental performance of apartment houses by the indicator of sunshne and openness. The duration of sunshine on the winter solstice was the principal indicator of environmental quality, but a new indicator which is complement to sunshine is required now because the occupants demands are to be more complicated. That is the openness which represents a skylight, view, ventilation. We selected VSC out of many indexes by means of measuring openness. These two indexes, sunshine duration and VSC, are tools for analyzing environmental performance of apartment houses. The households on the first floor of five tower-type apartment houses and two plate - type models are the objects of estimation. In result, plate-type ones are divided two group, best and worst quality. The best quality group are located in the front row unobstructed, the worst group are located in the back row obstructed by the front building. The households obstructed are poor both sunshine and openness. On the other hand, the tower-type ones are many middle quality households. The best quality group decreased than plate-type, but worst group also decreased. Most of households at tower-type apartment houses are comparatively better either sunshine or openness. |
