Abstract |
Recently, various types of structural systems for skyscrapers are studied as the height of the building structures rapidly increase. The mega frame system among them, which is the structural system developed recently, is known as a suitable structural system for skyscrapers Because this structural system has sufficient stiffness against the lateral forces by combination of mega-columns and mega- girders which consist of many columns and girders. Since the mega frame structure has significant numbers of elements and nodes, it takes tremendous times and computer memories to analyze and design the structures. But there is not an efficient analysis and design method for the mega frame system yet. Therefore, an efficient analytical model, which uses a few DOFs selected by the user using, is proposed in this study by using the matrix condensation technique. It is shown that the proposed model can provide accurate results in significantly reduced computational time based on numerical studies. Moreover, in order to reduce the computational time for matrix condensation, mega- joint by mega-joint and mega-story by mega-story condensation technique is developed. |
