Abstract Originated from natural feature of East Asia and developed for centuries as a site selection method and design guidelines for good housing, village and palace, Poongsoo(Fengshui) provides one of the basis of traditional architectural culture of East Asia. Poongsoo is continually used for modern architectural design in Hong Kong region and that can be suggest a direction for making new modern architecture having Korean traditional architectural culture. In this context, the study is to contribute for making new Korean architectural theory and design method having acceptability and inheritance of tradition by searching apply method of Poongsoo to modern Korean architecture with case study of modern architecture of Hongkong Island. In the study, the region is limited in Hongkong Island of Hongkong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. Through the study, it is found that the Poonsoo is applied in many various ways in the selected architecture of Hongkong Island. This shows the possibility that Poonsoo can be sufficiently used to design modern architecture fitted with Korea climate and culture as an arch. theory and design method.
