Abstract |
The objective of this study was to examine any possibility on the use of welded deformed wire fabric(WWF) for shear reinforcement in the reinforced concrete continuous deep beams. The structural behavior of deep beams reinforced with WWF which wasn't provided additional anchorage, such as hook, bending, and extra embedment was compared with that of deep beams reinforced with orthogonal shear reinforcement which had standard anchorage corresponding to ACI 318-02. The horizontal and vertical spacing of WWF was designed using ACI 318-02, Section 11.8, and Appendix A. Test results showed that the load transferring capacity and the control of splitting cracks in the strut of WWF were almost as effective as those of orthogonal shear reinforcement with standard anchorage. Based on bond strength and shear strength of welded point, this study proposed a rational limits on acceptance of WWF for shear reinforcement in deep beams. |
