Abstract The objective of this study is to understand the mechanical properties of high-strength concretes subjected to high temperature. Main variables were heating temperature ranging from 20℃ to 800℃, heating continuance time ranging from 30 Min to 120 Min, and cooling condition. Test results indicated that the mechanical properties of high strength concrete varying with temperature were significantly different from those of normal strength concrete. High strength concrete had higher rates of strength loss than normal-strength concrete in the temperature range of between 20℃ and 400℃. Especially, high-strength concrete exploded spalling in 400℃ of high temperature.
