Abstract |
The rotational stiffness of a double angle connection is very important factor and especially the initial stiffness is most important factor for the prediction of its behavior. The stiffness of a double angle connection mainly depends on several parameters such as number of bolts, angle thickness, and bolt gage distance. ??In this research, the variation of rotational stiffnesses has been estimated by performing three dimensional nonlinear finite element analyses for a double angle connection. The results of three dimensional finite element analyses have been compared with those of experimental tests which have been conducted previously. A simplified analytical model has also been proposed to predict the initial rotational stiffness of a double angle connection which has various geometrical configurations. |
