Abstract |
This study intended to investigate the accessibility of playground for Blind & Visually Handicapped Children in Playground Environment. Also collected views of potential users who are in Visually Impaired. This study showed that though most of the playground sites were accessible to Blind & Visually Handicapped Children, and were safety. For Blind & Visually Handicapped Children, the opportunities to play in a playground depend largely on the accessibility of the facilities. this study also explored the playground experience of children who were in visually impaired. Blind & Visually Handicapped Children require different designs in order to accommodate them in a playground environment. Through the analysis of the many countries' playground planning standards for the handicapped children. But in order to form safer playgrounds, new laws and regulations are to be urgently amended for better, and safer playgrounds.M The results of study suggest there be creatived planning items in terms of Accessibility, Safe and Domain, which, in detail, are summarized in following basic factors ; Guide point, Entrance, Sign, Guiderail, Path, Step, Trap, Tactile, Ground material, etc. A guideline on the design of an accessible & safety playground for Blind & Visually Handicapped Children should be made. |
