Abstract This study intends to introduce the current Space Syntax theory and the software of Axwoman, Isovist Analysis(Arcview Gis) and apply the analysis of unit floor plans of the apartments designed from 1996 to 2003. The characteristics found in the unit floor plans according to the outdoor adjacency methods are analyzed in the context of the Space Syntax Model and compared to the control value and integration value of livingroom, kitchen/dining room, bedroom 1 (Master bedroom). At the same time, the visual characteristics of unit plans are examined through isovist analysis. and the correlation and regression analysis of control value and integration value are proceeded.
The results of the study are presented that; the master bedroom was affected by the outdoor adjacency methods; there is a tendency that design element in unit such as private zone is the more important consideration design element than public zone (Livingroom, kitchen/Diningroom) according to the outdoor adjoining conditions; and in the visual characteristic analysis, a case with 3 sides to adjoin outdoor are described strong circularity distribution along the hallway in the unit plan.
