Abstract |
The purpose of this paper is to explain the location and environment of the lineage villages during the Joseon Dynasty through the map of Daedongyeojido. Daedongyeojido recognizes the national land to genealogical table system of mountains and water. Within Daedongyeojido's whole geography system, the lineage villages in Joseon dynasty settle down in place that mountain range ends and place that watercourse is begun. It is the place that been connected mountain range meets with open filed. The villages settle down in union part of different nature element that mountain district and open filed meet. As a result, the village takes advantage of mountain and filed at the same time. This topography condition forms slow slope, and influence to land utilization plan of the village that is linked to hinterland, dwelling site and farmland. The watercourse is begun in valley of village guardian mountain. The villagers use this water for living. The village that forms one feug-shui system aspect acts as watershed standard unit, utilizes the sugumagi by watershed administration way. Also, since the place that watercourse is begun under Korean topography condition is mountain's valley, this place is naturally surrounded by the mountains, and The village equips location environment that is apt to retire from the world. The lineage villages in Joseon dynasty preferred such a location environment. |
