Abstract These days, since the center of the industry in KOREA was transferred from the First Industry and the Second Industry to the Third Industry, most of the works have been performed indoor. Therefore, more attention has been paid to indoor environment. To provide pleasant indoor environment for the people who spend much working time indoor, a great number of studies on indoor physical environment characteristics and evaluation of it have been carried. However, as existing studies on indoor environment have focused on analysis of the relation between physical environmental factors such as heat, noise, light, and people, they were not enough to be applied to real situations. Therefore, this study should begin to identify the relation between composition of environmental factors and the user. For more rational and practical results, the lab for the experiments was constructed as far as similar to the real office environment.
All of eight experiments were carried under the following conditions: 24℃, 26℃, and 28℃ in daytime and at night and the level of noise was 58~62dB(A), and 26℃, during the day and night and the noise level was 48~52dB(A). And following results were presented: 1) The most satisfying lab temperature during the day and night was 24℃. 2) During the day, the higher indoor temperature, the higher the fatigue complaint, and in the night, the lower indoor temperature, the higher the fatigue complaint. 3) in the case of the short-term experiment, in the night, noise enhanced concentration of the workers, which contributed to much success of the task(improvement of 10% in daytime and 15% at night) 4) in the case of the demanding task , during the day, more successful works were achieved when indoor temperature was 26℃(40%), in the night, those achieved when the temperature was 28℃(35%). 5) in the case of demanding task, under the condition of experiment 1(24℃, 58~62dB(A)), the efficiency of the works was higher than that of night by 20%. Under the condition of Experiment 3 (28℃, 58~62dB(A)), it was higher than that of daytime by 15%.
