Abstract |
To ensure a safety design of reinforced concrete deep beams, it is necessary to evaluate the size effects under positive and negative moment and to ascertain the conservatism of Design Code. The objective of this study was to grasp the influence of the section overall depth on the structural behavior of reinforced concrete continuous deep beams. A total of 12 two-span continuous deep beams with section overall depth ranging from 400mm to 720mm, concrete compressive strengths of 27MPa and 60MPa, and shear span-to-overall depth ratios of 0.5 and 1.0 were tested to failure subjected to concentric top loading. Also, the observed behavior was compared the simulated behavior predicted by the non-linear finite element analysis. Good agreement was found between experiment and simulation over the whole experimental range. |
