Abstract In this paper the seismic performance of 3, 15, and 50 story braced frames with BRB were compared with those of conventional braced frames. Nonlinear static pushover analyses were carried out to obtain the force-displacement relationship up to failure and to observe the characteristics of plastic hinge formation. According to the analysis results, the seismic performance of structures with BRB turned out to be superior to that of the conventional braced frames designed both for the earthquake and the wind loads. It was also observed that the amount of steel required for the structure with BRB were smaller than that required to design conventional braced frames for the same design load.
