Abstract |
As a matter of interest in green concrete is being increased recently, experimental work was performed to evaluate the fluidity and the mechanical characteristics of concrete mixed with activated hwangtoh and specialty cellulose fiber which were green material. Fifteen concrete mixtures were cast using 0, 20, 35 and 50% by mass replacement of cement with hwangtoh at different fiber volume fraction which varied from 0% to 1.0%. Test results showed that the addition of cellulose fiber compensated for the gradual decrease of splitting tensile and flexure strength of concrete as the replacement level of hwangtoh was in more than 35%. However the addition of fiber has no beneficially influence on control of flexrue crack and improvement of ductility. To heighten the reinforcing effect of cellulose fiber, it is recommended that the length of fiber be extended and adhesive strength to the cement matrix be improved. |
