Abstract This paper is focused on the reliability assessment of the Korea's Typical Meteorological Years 2(hereafter referred to as TMY2) in Trnsys. We analyzed the difference between the TMY2 and Korea Meteorological Administration's data(hereafter referred to as KMA) by extracting the common factors from these data except the solar radiation data. Then the reliability assessment is studied by using the monthly and yearly average data of the common factors.
The results are as follows ;
In the dry bulb temperature, KMA is as high as an average year difference. Other factors(relative humidity, wind velocity & direction, atmosphere pressure, cloud cover, etc.) show the large deviation between two data. Particularly the wind velocity, the wind direction and the atmosphere pressure show too big deviation to be used to the application of the wind turbine system. Therefore these data need to be changed for the accurate and recent data. And the TMY2 doesn't include the ground temperature factor related to using the geo-thermal energy.
In conclusion, Korea's TMY2 provided internationally needs to be corrected and that of various cities should be built up as soon as possible.
