| Abstract |
The architectural magazine has been estimated as it carries contemporary architecture, theory of architecture, and criticism etc. The architecture, published on architectural magazine, has been ranked as advanced leading cultural product. At the entrance of 21C, multi-family housing, which is considered as not suitable for urban housing, has appeared on the architectural magazine. Considering the major role of magazine in urban architecture, the multi-family housing, designed by architects and published on the magazine, will reveal the problems of popular multi-family housing and the approach of architect to the multi-family housing. Therefore, the purpose of this study is 1)to analyze the features of multi-family housing appeared in magazine focused on the architectural planning, 2)to compare with the popular multi-family housing designed by local builder, 3)to find out a milestone for a future suitable multi-family housing so to make a desirable urban housing area.
The conclusions are as follows. First, published multi-family housing has the same approach in to the determining volume of housing to secure maximum space. It deliver profit by the rent and sell of space. Second, despite the pursuit of money, multi-family housing, illustrated in architectural magazine, is distinguished by the design of common space like lobby, stair hall linked courtyard and opened to the light, and roof garden, which are to bring community together. Third, the development promoted by connected plot has produced good effects to overcome the limit of individual development of poor relationship to the near plot. Therefore the new possibility to grope for the suitable urban housing can be found in the multi-family housing carried in architectural magazine. |
