Abstract Korean folk house is a private home which Korean people had lived in before the time of modernization. The post and beam were made of wood and the wall was mainly made of soil. The folk house needed much money to build and it was inconvenient to live in. Therefore it has disappeared after the modernization.
The purpose of this study is to develop a new plan type for people to use continuously today. The design concept is folk house in Jeoun-Nam province and the object is 'ㅡ'type which was build in the late Chosun Dynasty. In this study 12 case of design was suggested. The size of A type is 107.8㎡~120.1㎡, B type is 85.6㎡~101.9㎡ and C type is 66.5㎡~83.4㎡.
The character of each plan type is maintaining post, Toitmaru(a small floor which is in front of rooms), and adding toilet, dining room, and porch etc. .
