Abstract This paper presents buckling analysis of Mindlin plates with linearly tapered thickness in one direction. In application of the finite element method, 8-nodes serendipity element system were used for plate. Concerning the elastic foundation supporting the tapered thick plate, elastic foundation considered both of a Winkler foundation parameter and a Shear foundation parameter is used. Winkler foundation parameter are varied with 10,102,103, respectively, and Shear foundation parameter is also varied with 0, 5, 10, 15. A boundary condition for analyzing the plate supported simply-supported on four sides. Buckling stress of tapered thick plate on elastic foundation are calculated.
