Abstract |
This study has the purpose to propose a remodeling plan of a closed school in rural area as community center. Based on the analysis on characteristics of villages surrounding it and functions needed for rural community center, this study suggests a concrete model to accomplish the purpose. Seongdae branch school of Baekgok preliminary school in Chungbuk-do was studied and heads of 3 villages surrounding the school were interviewed and answered the questionnaire. To grasp the functions required and planning factors of community center, the questionnaire focused on the composition of residents, status of facilities, everyday life pattern using the facilities, and residents’ request on the utilization of closed schools. The conclusion is, (1) The major problems of villages studied were serious aging, low income and insufficient everyday life facilities. Subsequently the community center is desired to give residents healthcare services above all, and give spaces for sanitary activities or labor on the side. (2) The study suggests remodeling plan of a closed school having functions mentioned above, such as, healthcare function composed of a medical treatment room, a physical therapy room, and a daycare room, side business function composed of a workroom and a storeroom, sanitary function composed of a public bath and a beauty salon, living services function providing convenient living services and managing other functions composed of a administrative office room, and an auxiliary service function composed of a kitchen, multipurpose room combining dinning room with consideration of their physical conditions. |
