Abstract |
This thesis aims to explore the spatial browsing system of public libraries in relation to the impact of the electronic media on social behavior. The evolution of media has decreased the significance of physical presence of the experience of user and information. One can now be an user to a information browsing without being physically present. Even within the social information institute, media have reshaped the social significance of individual rooms. This thesis is about the classification and description of the spacial browsing system of the public libraries and media centers through the analysis of the twenty century facilities. The characteristics of contemporary browsing system are described in sub classifications ; sequential linkage, physical hyperactivity, functional juxtaposition, and contextual reference. The thesis develops general principles concerning the relationship among information distribution and user behavior and then explores the potential effects of a shift from print-situation to digital-situation on broad range of information space. |
