Abstract In structural system, one-way slab is the plate element supported by four-edged beams with unequaled stiffness, but actually design criterion has analyzed the one-way slab as the continuous beam. Because the end beams supporting one-way slab have the elastic supports causing the different deflections according to the support conditions and locations, the bending moments corresponding to the support locations differ from the moment values in case that the elastic support effect is not considered in the design criterion. Accordingly, for the resonable estimation of approximate moment coefficients considering the unequaled elastic support conditions, this study analyzes and estimates various models with the variables for the ratios of live load to dead load and pattern arrangements of live loads and span lengths. The analysis methods considering the 3-dimensional plate finite element, the 2-dimensional elastic support and the infinite stiffness support are performed.
In the analysis results, the moment values by the design criterion are underestimated maximum 100% than the moment values estimated by the analysis considering the unequaled elastic support conditions. Also, because the bending moments of long direction in the design criterion are almost ignored, the reinforcement of long direction is demanded, based on only minimum reinforcement ratio. But, actually large negative moment takes place in the inner end supports for elastic effects by support deflections. As a result, the bending moment coefficients in the approximate analysis of one-way slab should be considered under the unequaled elastic support conditions and resonable reinforcing design is required to resist the bending moment of each locations.
