Abstract |
The effective utilization of wood structure is urged from the point of preservation of the natural resources and global environment. Also, the long span and large-scale timber structures are requested to promote the wood demand. There are few cases where wooden structure is used for the medium rise building in europe. It is necessary to develop and verify a new structural system to achieve a medium rise building using wooden structure. This study deals with high-performance timber-based composite members, which consist of laminated timber and H-beam. Therefore, it experimented by bending test of the joints using simple H-section steel and structural laminated timber to investigate the strength, deformation capacities, stress distributions of laminated timber and failure patterns. The main parameters are stiffening methods(non-stiffening, bolt, lag screw, and epoxy) between H-beam and structural laminated timber. The results of the test show that non-stiffening specimen having inserting length of 2 times of the H-beam height was characterized by fairly good strength, stiffness and sufficient energy absolution capacities. However, specimens with metal equipments (bolts and lag screws) are abruptly failures after maximum load by affecting of the loss of section. |
