Abstract This thesis aims to develope not only the typological classification through the analysis of existing architectural precedents of information institutions related with the user oriented library but also induce the activity model of physical system of public libraries which enhance the contemporary information environment including electronic media on social behavior. The peer survey of the medium theory and the facility design provides a program method in which the user can manipulate the interface from spatial hierarchy to information system. This results in the new guideline to consider a hyper space markup system and therefore the facility itself can evolve simultaneously up to the need of users who actually participate in the inside or outside of information environment especially in the lieu of physical index. The public library and information facilities will be organized with the fundamental models of information system provoked by networked libraries and knowledge databases.
