Abstract |
This research aims to investigate perspectives by which Italian Neo-Rationalism architects attempted to analyse urban and process how they introduced architectural typology theory into their works. The architectural typology theory has been mentioned by modern architects when they attempt to reconstruct the spirit of place and historicity those are lost in modern architects. In this paper, perspectives for analysing urban concepts and design process in introducing architectural typology theory are mentioned by focusing Aldo Rossi, Carlo Aymonino, and Giorgio Grassi representative Italian Neo-Rationalism architects. As a conclusion, comparisons between the all are presented: Aldo Rossi considers the urban as an assembly of various parts and values the formation whereas Carlo Aymonino approaches the urban based on functional relationships between various parts and gives more attentions to the function in architectural typology. Finally, Giorigio Grassi considers the city as the logical construction including historical consistency and permanence. As a sequence, he regards only the fundamental archetypical typology as the permanent aspect. For this reason, his works have been existed by means of the moderate and ascetic manner consisting of constructing orders and rules. |
