| Abstract |
Since 2004, Seoul metropolitan government has operated new basic plan for adjustment in urban and housing environments for adaptable Residental Improvement to local situation. But the real program has been carried out without any consideration about social, economic and physical characteristics existed in the area. The Residental Improvement has been completed as the only one type of a huge complex of high-rise apartment. The existing Residental Improvement is not in keeping with the aim of this plan. To improve these problems, the followings would be established. : the introduction of small scale development, the creation of guild line on planning and residental participation system in Residental Improvement, the invention of mid-rise housing type, the strengthening of public support to rehabilitation. The New town project, the combination of housing redevelopment, urban redevelopment, and improvement of housing environment, will be helpful method to be effective Residental Improvement. |
